Stress and Diabetes...

Something new I learnt today.. Stress has a major influence on diabetes. If one is stressed, the cortisone and adrenaline level goes up which in turn blocks insulin from attacking the blood sugars thus raising your blood sugar levels. Pretty scary. Off late, I have seen stress being attributed to a lot of lifestyle diseases. Dealing with stress has become a huge money churner. With the fast paced lifestyle in today's world, there is a huge industry dealing with stress related ailments and their cure. Some questions that come to my mind are the following:

1. Is stress that difficult to deal with that we have to take professional help?
2. When one can bring upon stress to themselves how hard would it be to get rid of it by ourselves?
3. Where was this stress factor when I was growing up back in India?

Another spicy news: Turmeric has been found to be anti-inflammatory and there are now plans of selling them in capsules... No wonder our grandpas and grandmas had such a healthy lifestyle.
