Left turns contributes to global warming...

At least that is what UPS has found out. According to this NY Times article UPS uses a software program that clearly maps out routes for every driver that reduces the number of left turns drastically. This results in huge savings in gas consumption which in turn reduces the CO2 emissions dramatically.
I have never been a fan of left turns and I always try my best to reduce left turns in my driving. I have always looked at it from a time saving perspective but never from a gas saving and global warming perspective. I am glad that my driving habit is contributing to reducing global warming in some small way.
