My modems are now working...

I finally got modems at my home to work. I have been struggling with SBC(now ATT) customer support to convince them that the issue was on their side of the line but they never budged. I had a weird problem where any phone connected to the phone line would detect a dial tone but none of the modems would detect a dial tone. This included my satellite receiver and my laptops. I was able to identify the problem to be on the SBC side of the line but everytime I called the customer support, they would test my dialtone and conclude that everything was well and dandy..
Today, I managed to speak to a service rep, who was kind enough to hear my story and agreed to send a technician to my home. Surprisingly, the appointment was for the same day. Once the technician arrived, it was very easy for me to convince him that there was indeed a problem on the SBC side of the line. The technician then found out that the voltage on the line was very low(DC 42 Volts when it should be around 52-60Volts) due to which the modems could not detect the dial tone. He then traced the problem to a defective DSL card on the main box down the road and once he replaced it, my modems started to work just fine. This problem was nagging me for the past 6 months and it finally came to rest today.
